2013 Social Security Tax Rate

Beginning  in January 2013, all employees will have an increase in  the employee portion of the Social Security taxrate.  The reduction from 6.2 percent to  4.2 percent which was in effect for calendar year 2012 expired at the end of  2012 and was not extended.  The FICA rate in effect for 2013 will therefore increase from 4.2 percent to 6.2 percent  of FICA taxable wages.
